Basil is an award-winning film director, writer, and cinematographer based in Los Angeles and Bern, Switzerland. He holds an MFA in Film & Television Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Before pursuing a career in film, Basil worked in the fashion industry as a photographer and served in the Swiss Air Force, an experience that later inspired him to become a pilot.

After moving to Los Angeles, Basil worked in development and the documentary department at The Kennedy/Marshall Company, founded by Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. A few years later, he and his wife launched Heimat Films, a production company dedicated to developing and producing documentary, commercial, and narrative projects.

Basil’s narrative and commercial work has been featured on HBO (The Cypher) and showcased at renowned festivals, including the Tribeca Film Festival (La Roche), Cannes Film Festival’s Emerging Filmmaker Program (Daedalus), Aesthetica Film Festival, the Telly Awards, and the American Advertising Federation.
